Failure is always an option

Book Talk

A) Band of Brothers, by Stephen E. Ambrose

B) The 506th Parachure Infantry Regiment is a rag-tag band of soldiers fresh from training camp who, over the course of basic training, become a family, and fierce soldiers. Most of them are in it for the extra pay, as well as glory, and the thrill of jumping. Their drill sargent would hound them for hours, and eventually they broke the record for longest distance hiked over the shortest period of time. After basic training most of them graduated and went on to jump school, because of their demanding and harsh drill instructor, the 506 put the physical fitness trainers at jump camp to shame, and moved on to practice real jumps. One unfortunate incident came about when several people came back from their leave late, and were stripped of their wings. Five jumps later, in December 1942, the 506th graduated jump camp and were qualified as Parachutists. I have not read any further than this, but plan to.

C) I like the book so far, reading about the training and what was required from them, with a first person point of view was very interesting. After the little I have read I am hooked, and hoping to finish soon.

D) This is the period of WWII, if you had the choice, would you volunteer for the millitary, and if yes, what would you want to do?
